OK, I try not to be a Microsoft basher. I use Windows when necessary for my work but I try to stick with the Mac or Linux whenever possible. However, in my non-bashing of MS I do have to say that I think they could do a better job with just about everyting. The user interface has gone relatively unchanged for nearly a decade! Believe me, I think that it works but couldn’t it work better? Sure it could. So could OS X and Linux for that matter but I see far more inovation coming from the later two than I have see in a good long while from our friends in Redmond. This naturally brings us to Windows Longhorn, recently renamed Vista. Now I won’t say much more than “Yuk!” about the name but it has recently come to light that Vista is the proper name of a company located in the same city as Microsoft! Ouch, someone wasn’t watching on that one. I can say honestly that I really do hope that Microsoft is forced to change their name. Not because it’s a terrible name (although it is) but because I think that sometimes the bully needs to be taken down a notch or two. Naturally this could become a David vs. Goliath such as the Windows vs. Lindows which ended up costing Lindows so much money that they eventually caved and changed their name to Linspire just to be done with the whole ordeal.
